People ask me all the time: how do I stay so disciplined on my vegan diet? The thing that helps me stay on track the most is smart goals.  In this article, I will teach you everything you need to know about smart goals.

Queen Afua discusses plate percentages in her book, Heal Thyself for Health and Longevity. I took this knowledge and meshed it with some of my old classroom research…

This method has been very effective for me on my journey.

Smart goals are goals that are:

S- Specific  (You can’t change it all at once!)

M- Measurable  (You have to be able to track your progress.)

A- Attainable  (You have to have a plan.)

R- Results Driven  (You have to have some outcome.)

T- Time  (It is important to give yourself a period. This will help you continue to grow and change.)
An example of a goal: I am going to become a raw foodist. An example of a SMART Goal:  I am going to eat a raw fruit or veggie with every meal, and eat only raw snacks in order to increase my raw intake to 45% from now through September.

This method has helped me improve some many different aspects of my life, and I hope it helps you improve diet. This method doesn’t require you make the right choice 100% of the time, but it will help you make real progress. Whether you want to reduce sugar, meat, or gluten ultimately, it will help you make real improvements to your diet.
